We watched The Avengers at Robinsons Movieworld last April 28, 2012.

I seldom watch movies now because I often find myself sleeping inside the movie house halfway through the movie. I guess that’s because I really miss my afternoon naps or maybe because the cold movie house is very conducive for sleeping or perhaps because I’m getting older. Lol!

Anyways, I’m happy to announce that I didn’t fall asleep while watching The Avengers. That’s because I really enjoyed the story, the stunts and the visual effects. I also liked that the characters in the movie did not outshine each other. On the contrary, the characters were given individual time to prove who they are and what they are capable of doing. I also found myself chuckling every once in a while because of the humor injected in the movie.

The four movie tickets we bought also entitled us to have our pictures taken at The Avengers photo booth and to get FREE Avengers mask face painting. Because it was getting late already, the little boy opted for a hand painting instead. I was standing nearby with a lot of thoughts swirling in my head, including a writing assignment about employment screening that was almost overdue, while waiting for the little boy to finish.

We all enjoyed the movie. It was money well spent. When we went home, the little boy knew who among The Avengers he liked the most – Iron Man! What I didn’t understand was why he chose to have Captain America’s shield painted on his hand, instead of Iron Man’s helmet.

Did you watch The Avengers, too?
Bonifacio High Street was transformed into a mystical urban jungle as world-renowned Brazilian flip-flop brand Ipanema showcased its sassy new collection at their Urban Jungle Runway Show held last Tuesday, May 8, 2012.

The roaring runway show featured a jamboree of mystical animals, which included the playful and graceful dolphin, the sleek and agile wolf, the fierce and regal lion, the vibrant and sophisticated peacock, the soaring eagle, the meek and mild gazelle, the sexy and imperial snake, the eye-catching ostrich, the unique zebra, the funny and quirky caterpillar that metamorphosed into a beautiful butterfly.

This runway spectacle unravelled the fabulous “fauna” of new Ipanema flip-flop styles through a story-telling fashion show featuring jungle creatures that embody the diverse tastes and characters of today’s stylistas.

Popular celebrities and top models Enchong Dee, Phoemela Baranda, Ornussa Cadness, Mia Ayesa and Peter Norrdell, among others, were spotted at the event.

Enchong Dee and yours truly

Because I was the first blogger to arrive, I received a lovely gift from Ipanema. Lucky me!

We were at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) last April 7, 2012. We seldom go to this mall because it’s too far from our place. That’s why when we visit, we see to it that we make the most of our time there, and that’s exactly what we did three Saturdays ago.

First, we explored Kids Universe, a zone especially made for kids. This is where we found Music for Little Mozarts, a store selling musical instruments for kids where hubby bought a melodica for our little boy. This is also where we had our first X-Rider experience! Then we had lunch at Xin Wang Hong Kong Café before we proceeded to the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center.

Now let’s talk about our first virtual ride, the X-Rider. The X-Rider is a 4-D simulator ride. It’s a mini theater that can accommodate 6 to 8 people, and it shows different educational and adventurous themes that will give you an experience you will never forget. According to their website, you view images on 3D, but the experience is on 4D, which means the viewers actually feel what they are watching.

We paid Php300.00 for the three of us (two adults and one child), and then we had to choose our theme for the ride. The little boy chose “Roller Coaster.” We also wore 3D glasses while inside the X-Rider. According to the staff, the ride will last for 5 to 6 minutes. Well, I think the ride lasted far more than that!

I have never ridden a roller coaster before, and because of X-Rider, I think I’ll never ever ride a real roller coaster in my life! I was screaming the entire time we were inside the X-Rider. When I couldn’t take it anymore, I would close my eyes while holding on tightly to our seat rail. Our seats were actually moving, and we really felt like we were riding the roller coaster! I was sweaty after our virtual roller coaster ride!

Hubby was just quiet during the ride, but the little boy got scared. He thought everything was real and kept on asking when our virtual ride would end. I told him to close his eyes if he was afraid, but he kept on staring at the screen. After it was over, he said he would never get inside the X-Rider again. Lol!

If you want an X-Rider experience, too, you can visit their branches at Lower Ground Floor of The Annex in SM City Fairview, 3rd Floor of Main Mall in SM City North EDSA, Lower Ground Floor of Building A in SM Megamall, 4th Floor of Timezone Trinoma and inside Kids Universe in SM Mall of Asia.

My almost 6-year-old son used to have a few yoyos, but he only has one left right now. This is the yoyo that he got for the tickets that he earned from playing games at Tom’s World. He likes playing his yoyo, but he gets frustrated when he can’t make his yoyo work. That’s because the string of the yoyo is too long. Why we never thought of cutting the yoyo string to its correct length is beyond me.

Whenever the little boy plays his yoyo, he has to stand on our sofa bed so the yoyo won’t hit the ground. This works sometimes, but not always. His yoyo occasionally falls to the ground with a soft thud. I won’t be surprised to see this yoyo broken one day, and I’m sure he’ll ask for a replacement. Well, if he does, I’ll make it a point to buy a stronger and more durable yoyo for him, like a Duncan yo yo. I’m sure I’ll get my money’s worth if I do that.

Acquiring new McDonald’s Happy Meal Toys is one of the things that make my son happy, giddy and excited. Nope, he doesn’t usually ask for the entire set, just one or two, sometimes four—this is the most he’s had.

I received an unexpected blessing from blogging last week, which made me promise my son that we’d get Happy Meal toys for him. After work last Friday, we went to McDonald’s at Robinsons Galleria to make him choose two Spongebob toys.

That’s my boy with his two new Spongebob toys: Dessert Chef and SuperSponge!

Enjoying his Chicken McNuggets and Double Hot Fudge Sundae!

When he went to his karatedo-class last Wednesday, I already bought him the CEO Spongebob, and last Saturday, his Dad bought him the Doctor Spongebob. He now has a total of four Spongebob Happy Meal toys.

I love it when he smiles like that! He becomes the sweetest boy when his wishes are granted, and I become the happiest mom when he showers me with hugs and kisses.

Do you know what he whispered to me when he woke up yesterday morning? “Mommy, when are we going to buy Avengers’ toys from Jollibee?”

My almost 6-year-old son loves to play! He likes to try just about every play area he sees in the mall. We were at SM Megall two Saturdays ago. On our way to Timezone, the little boy spotted My Playroom Kids Care Center, and he said he wanted to go there. The place looks inviting, so I agreed. I left him and his yaya money for an hour’s stay at My Playroom. Hubby and I took advantage of that time to have tea at Happy Lemon upstairs.

The little boy went up, went down the slide, played with the balls, and tinkered with the toys.

After 30 minutes, however, his yaya texted me saying that my son wanted to leave My Playroom already. That’s fast! When I asked him why, he said he didn’t like playing there anymore because the toys don’t have batteries, some of them are old, and some have broken parts. He then asked to play at Timezone.

While my son already spent a day swimming at Ascott Makati last March 31 to April 1, 2012, he still wants to go to the beach. He’s been bugging his Dad if we can go to Boracay again like the first time we went there in November 2010. Oh my goodness! If he only knew how much it cost us to get there, he’d probably change his mind and settle for a beach in Batangas instead. His Dad actually wants us to go to Bohol. I’m crossing my fingers that we’ll be able to visit this place before summer ends. Justin’s Dad is now busy looking online for hotels and resorts in Bohol for our forthcoming beach vacation.
