The Queen of All Media, Ms. Kris Aquino, is first and foremost a mom who loves her children and makes sure their needs are well taken care of. And like all moms, Kris doesn’t take chances when it comes to her kids’ health. At the first sign of a wound infection, she trusts only one brand, Fucidin®.
“I have two boys and when they get a cut or a wound, I clean it with soap and water for 15 seconds. Then, I apply Fucidin® agad,” she says. “Fucidin® is part of our wound care kit!”
I’m a mom, too, of an energetic soon-to-be-11-year-old boy, and I’m no stranger to cuts, bruises and wounds. I know for a fact that children, especially boys, are exposed to different types of wounds and scrapes because of their daily activities. And they can still get hurt even in the most unlikely places.
Here’s what I usually do when my son gets bruised, scraped or cut. I usually wash the affected area with water and soap so that it stays clean and won’t get infected. Then I put antiseptic solution and cover it with an adhesive bandage.
At the recent Moms Unite Against Wound Infection event that I attended at Ascott BGC hosted by Ms. Kris Aquino, I realized that I was missing one step of the entire process of treating wound infection.
I was right in washing the wound well with soap and water as a way to prevent infection from setting in. You see infection occurs when bacteria enters the wound through a break on one’s skin, and bacteria may spread and lead to more serious diseases.
However, cleaning the wound with soap and water may not be enough. It is also essential to apply a topical antibiotic like Fucidin® when there’s a sign of wound infection.
Fusidic acid/sodium fusidate Fucidin® is a powerful antibiotic that is clinically proven against wound infection. It is fast-acting, working on the infection two minutes upon application. It is deep-penetrating, too, reaching the skin’s deepest layer 30 minutes after application. It likewise helps prevent bacteria from spreading.
There are two variants: Fucidin® cream and Fucidin® Ointment. Fucidin® cream is ideal for exposed parts of the body like the face and hands, while Fucidin® ointment is ideal for dry, scaly or cracked lesions.
It was an insightful afternoon as the audience gained helpful information from the discussion. It was entertaining, too, with the Queen of All Media perking up the event with her candid questions. It was really fun watching her!
