Global Filipino Designer Oliver Tolentino, Metrobank Platinum and RIIR Unveil MaSAYA Collection of High-fashion and Eco-ethical Bags

RIIR DESIGNER LINE (RIIR), in partnership with Metrobank Platinum, launched its latest collection of couture bags designed by global Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino in Greenbelt 5, Makati City last October 26, 2011.

For this new line of colorful clutches and totes, dubbed as “MaSAYA” collection, Tolentino draws inspiration from the blissful spirit of the women of Payatas who hand-weaved the fabric materials used for the collection.

“I wanted the bags to stand out from the typical brown, tan, black handbags. I hope they will be conversation starters and confident women will happily and proudly share the inspiring story behind the bags,” said Hollywood’s most in-demand Filipino designer.

Models wearing original Tolentino-designed dresses cascaded down the runway showcasing these highly fashionable and eco-ethical bags. The collection also featured the “kantinares” pattern of the indigenous women of Bangued, Abra. Like the women of Payatas, their valued skill is also the source of their sustenance.

Tolentino is known for promoting local fabrics and Filipino culture through his pieces. Tolentino and Metrobank Platinum support RIIR’s eco-ethical style – a combination of fashion, social responsibility and preservation of the environment.
