July wasn’t a very good month for our five-year-old son. That’s because we’ve gone to Makati Medical Center a number of times for a variety of reasons. First, he was diagnosed with contact dermatitis. A week after, he had to undergo complete blood count (CBC) test because of hypersensitivity reaction, which was later found out to be pityriasis rosea.
He also underwent several urine culture and sensitivity tests because his overactive bladder was acting up, and his pediatric urologist said if he responds well to antibiotic treatment, then that means my son’s frequent urination is a manifestation of urinary tract infection (UTI), and because he has recurrent UTI, he needs to be circumsized soon.
Seeking treatment for my son’s various health conditions last month required money, and I was just really thankful that we’re covered by health insurance courtesy of my husband’s office. If we didn’t have health insurance, we’d probably be knee-deep in debt already. This solidifies my belief that it’s really wise to invest in a good health insurance policy.
