After staying for 2 ½ days at the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Nanay was brought back to the Adult Pay Ward of the Philippine Heart Center at midnight on Saturday. This means she’s already stable. When we visited her yesterday morning, she can already sit down, and her heart surgeon advised her to start moving already for faster healing. Nanay was still wearing a urinary catheter, but the doctor said that will be removed by noon time. As per Tatay’s latest text message last night, Nanay will switch from intravenous to oral antibiotics today. The hospital’s pharmacy ran out of the brand that Nanay’s doctor prescribed, so I’ll be buying her antibiotics today before going to the hospital.

    1. My Nanay is okay now. I hope and pray that your husband will have a successful heart surgery and a speedy recovery just like my Nanay.

  2. Hi,

My father was diagnosed with coronary artery disease with 3 blocked vessel. He has diabetes as well. He was advised to undergo CABG asap in Medical City. The cost was around 800k. We went to Heart Center to get a 2nd opinion and the doctor said the same thing that he needed to undergo CABG. We can’t afford the cost of operation. PHC charges around 500k-600k. This is a discounted package already and we cannot avail the senior’s discount. Tha bad news is we have to pay that amount upon admission and they dont accept promissory note. Can I ask how did you raise the cost of operation for your nanay and did you go to PCSO? Should we get a 3rd opinion as well probably in PGH?

    Thanks.

    1. Hi, Kelly!

It was by God’s grace that we were able to raise the money needed for our Nanay’s heart surgery. Half of it came from friends and sisters/brothers in church while the other half came from a financial loan that my husband made in his office that my sister and I are now paying. You can go to Dr. Eduardo Buan at the PHC. He was the one who gave us the cheapest medical package for a little more than 400k. His colleague, Dr. Christopher Cheng, was the one who operated on our Nanay. He is very kind. He actually didn’t charge us for the follow-up check-ups of our Nanay after her surgery. I hope the info I gave will help you find a solution to your father’s heart problem.

      Tetcha
